A Marvel in Stone
Built in the 13th century by King Narasimhadeva I, the Konark Sun Temple is designed as a colossal chariot of the Sun God, drawn by seven horses on twelve pairs of intricately carved wheels.
It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the finest examples of Kalinga architecture in the world.
What to See
The main sanctum, the beautifully carved wheels, the sculptural panels depicting daily life, and the archaeological museum across the road are all unmissable. The temple glows spectacularly at sunset.
Combine your visit with the nearby Chandrabhaga Beach for a peaceful evening.
Getting There
